It’s now time to refresh our knowledge about functions and also learn about new functions. What are the different types of parent functions? Since parent functions are the simplest form of a given group of functions, they can immediately give you an idea of how a given function from the same family would look like. Hence, the parent function for this family is y = x 2. These four are all quadratic functions, and their simplest form would be y = x 2. Can you guess which family do they belong to? Since they all share the same highest degree of two and the same shape, we can group them as one family of function.
